Department of Information Technology

Department Overview:

In recent years, the challenges before the educational institutes are manifold. It will have to cope with fast changes in technology simultaneously, training more students with adequate information with less availability of financial support for expansion and excellence.To meet these challenges the department of Information Technology established in the year 2001 with an intake capacity of 40, aspires to emerge as a center of scholastic excellence in the field of academic and research so as to meet the global requirements through imparting quality technical education, research expertise and ethical values in a direction that would inspire and encourage students to generate value based output to the society, government, industry and academia in terms of technical and professional expertise, skill sets, creativity with a blend of leadership and entrepreneurial expertise.


Missions:
  • M1: Provide an excellent learning environment for the students to be technically efficient in solving problems.
  • M2: Prepare the students with strong fundamental concepts, analytical capability and programming skills.
  • M3: Create a nurturing environment for lifelong learning.
  • M4: Generate social awareness and responsibility within the students to serve the mankind and protect the environment.


Program Educational Objectives (PEOs):
  • PEO1: To equip the students with sound knowledge in mathematics, science and basic engineering fundamentals and develop skill to solve engineering problems.
  • PEO2: To enable students to pursue higher studies for professional growthand/or work as an entrepreneur for successful professional career.
  • PEO3: To inculcate soft skill, professional and ethical attitude, teamwork, leadership skills and multidisciplinary approach within the students which will enable themto correlate societal issue with engineering solution and pursue lifelong learning.

Program Outcomes (POs):
  • PO1: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems.
  • PO2: Identify and Analyse well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.
  • PO3: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.
  • PO4: Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
  • PO5: Apply appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.
  • PO6: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.
  • PO7: Ability to Analyse individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs):
  • PSO1: Ability to design and develop methodologies in computer programming and apply those skills in the field of Information Technology.
  • PSO2: Develop potentiality to apply the skills learnt for betterment of the society by updating it on the basis of the advanced technological changes and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.
